Freedom Hill Farm is a small dairy farm located in Otisville, NY that seeks to combine natural farming with Christian ministry. All are welcome regardless of religion. Rick is a natural born farmer with a lifetime of experience and Julie, Ricks wife, can almost always be found right beside him helping to keep the farm running smoothly. Both Rick and Julie are dedicated to keeping the cows, and calves, happy and healthy all year round, with the help of a few family friends.
Rick grew up on this very farm, and after having managed a larger dairy farm with 2,000 cows for 26 years, Rick and Julie decided it was time for a lifestyle change. In 2001 they sold the large farm, and in 2003 decided to move home to Otisville and start dairy farming again after Rick had a vision from the Lord which is depicted in the painting below. This vision inspired them both to make Freedom Hill Farm what it is today- a family farm founded on the principles of faith and doing good for the local community.
Ricks father Dick was the owner of the farm at the time that they began Freedom Hill Farm, and graciously gave them permission to renovate the barn and bring cows back onto the farm. Dick remained close to the farm, living in the farm house next door until his passing in 2017.
After meeting their new neighbors who grow organic vegetables and also have a Christian youth ministry (find them at www.freedomfarmcommunity.org), they started wondering if they should be involved with Christian ministry too. Once they started praying in that direction, it seemed as though the Lord opened up the flood gates of blessings to get them up and running.
Today, Freedom Hill Farm is a successful farm that is open to the public for tours, social visits, and shopping for farm-fresh local products from our farm and other local producers. Rick and Julie enjoy welcoming neighbors and visitors to see the farm, make friends and ask questions- they are more than happy to share information about farming and their Christian testimony and love for Jesus with anyone who inquires. The farm is open to visitors every day of the week during the evening milking from 3:30-5:30 pm!
Here at Freedom Hill Farm, we love what we do, and we want nothing but the best for our cows. Our Jerseys are pasture fed which produces the best tasting raw milk, with lots of extra health benefits! Rick is constantly watching them to make sure they are healthy and get the care they need while Julie works hard to help keep them clean and comfortable.
